japan finds

I am back home from our trip to Japan.
It took me a while to recover from jetlag, and it was especially hard with a baby...
She kept waking up so many times in the middle of a night,
and sometimes she was up for a few hours...
Now she is pretty much back on her normal schedule,
and I am trying to get back on sewing and crafting!

There were so many neat cute stuff in Japan.
I wanted to bring back a lot of stuff, but my small laggage had reached its max.
These are a few things I brought back home with me.

Cute Stamp Set
I love these!
I already used them when I wrote to my firends.

Masking Tapes
Cute masking tapes were 'in' in Japan.
I found them pretty much everywhere I went.
I bought a few to use them for decolating gifts.

naniIRO Fabric

I went to a fabric store.
I had no intention to buy any fabric there.
Well, more like I had to try not to buy any fabric
because there was little room in my laggage for anything.
But, I needed this fabric!
This is one of naniIRO collections.
I am thinking to make myself a summer dress :)

Sewing Magazine

Found this in a book store.
There are so many cute clothes in the magazine.
I have to make some things with the patterns.

a few days left...

My one month long visit in Japan is coming closer to the end...
Only a few days left.
We had a pretty good visit.
ate a lot, played a lot!
My daughter had a wonderful time.
Everyone loved her and adored her.
And she got tons of gifts! - lucky girl!!
I don't know how I am going to pack all the stuff, stuff we brought and gained,
into our small luggage....
My husband went back home earlier,
so I will be carrying my daughter in addition to my luggage all by myself!
I tried my best not to gain too much stuff.
But, it is so hard!
so many cute things over here in Japan...
It seems like I will have an extra bag with me on the way back.
My family doesn't want us to leave,
especially they want to keep their first granddaughter.
It is going to be hard to say good-bye to them at the airport... :(

guess where I am?

sorry for not posting anything for weeks...
but, I had been pretty busy.
We were in Vancouver for 5 days,
and now we are in JAPAN!
We are visiting my family.
This is the very first time for my family to see my daughter.
My parents and grandparents are already in love with her and crazy about her.
It is going to be an awesome visit.
and I can't wait to eat good Japanese food as well, of course!

etsy update

With the very little free time I have, I finally made a dreamy spring dress for my Etsy shop.
Why did I have to make another one of the same dress?
(well, with a different colored fabric)
Because I decided to keep the first one!
hehehe ;P
This happens often.
probably more than it should....

but it's so hard!
after spending so much time and energy you put into creating things,
of course you'll get attached!
and its also so nice knowing it is the only one unique thing in the entire world!
nobody else has it!
right?

finally...!

yay!
I finally got a shipment for my daughter's mobile today :)
I had been waiting for it for a looooooong time!
When I was looking for a pattern/how-to on baby mobiles,
I came across withthis how-to by Lupin.
As soon as I saw it, I was in love with it,
and knew this was the one for my daughter.

I went felt shopping at a local fabric store and got some nice colored felts.
Originally, I was going to use beads from my beading stash
instead of felt balls used in the how-to.
But, they were way too small for the project,
and I really liked how it looked with the felt balls.

So, decided to go on Etsy for felt ball hunting.
Found some sellers, but got these nice colored ones from feltgirlsupplies.
I was so excited when I saw the package in the mail box.
I FINALLY can finish it!!!!
Cutting out the butterflies was a quite time consuming repetitive work!
especially because I decided to double them.
but I managed :)
My original plan was to use interface yearn running in between two butterflies,
but I changed my mind and stitched them together, just like the how-to.
I think it was the right choice
- it adds a bit more 'handmade feel' to it and now they actually look like flying!
Sewing the balls and butterflies was a bit of work out too.
I didn't have the right needle and yearn was a bit too thick for the eye of the needle I used.

But in the end,

I am quite happy with how it turned out :)

and so is she :)!
